Deep Work and Big Questions

You’re not here to stay on the surface — and neither am I.

Whether it’s Who am I? Why am I stuck? What’s the point? — we’ll get into it. Therapy with me is a space for untangling the big, existential questions that don’t have easy answers but deserve your attention. I’m not a therapist who will sit and nod and say “mmm-hmm” at you for an hour. Our conversations are designed to spark deep insight and provoke self-discovery.

Grounded In the Real World

Insight is great. Change is better.

I’m all for meaningful conversations, AND I also want therapy to do something. That means translating insight into real-world shifts — how you show up in your relationships, how you set boundaries, how you stop spiraling every Sunday night. This isn’t therapy in the clouds. It’s therapy with its feet on the ground.

With a Sense of Humor

Because sometimes all you can do is laugh (and then maybe cry a little).

Life is messy, unpredictable, and often absurd. I believe humor is not just a coping skill — it’s a sign of resilience. In therapy, we’ll hold space for grief, struggle, and meaning... and we’ll make room for dry jokes, dark laughs, and the occasional “WTF is happening” moment. It’s how we stay human.

You think that it could be better–but you need help figuring out how to get there.

You need a trained outside perspective to help you identify and strategize new solutions. I am honored to help you take a good hard look at your life and ask “What needs to change?”

The most common concerns I help with are:

★ Depression ★ Anxiety ★ Trauma ★ Identity ★ Addiction and Recovery

★ Grief and Loss ★ Stress and Adjustment ★ Relationships

“Therapy gives clients a safe relationship in which to explore their inner world and to consider taking risks in their external one.”- Mary Pipher

Individual Counseling

Individual therapy for adults

We’ll work together to identify your priority issues and the best approaches to address them. I am trained in a variety of techniques to help with issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, and loss which I can explain the pros and cons of. From there we’ll make a plan that supports you to process and progress.

Individual therapy for teens

I work with teens to address the many issues that emerge in adolescence. These can include loneliness, anxiety, and questions around who they are; but of course there’s so much more! I’ll work with your teen to create a space where they can explore and feel supported in their mental health. I work with families on an as-needed basis, based on what the teen and their parents think is best.

Group Therapy

“We are all bound by a covenant of reciprocity.” - Robin Wall Kimmerer

Group Therapy

Group therapy can help you to explore issues surrounding relationships and social presentation; including anxiety, people-pleasing, assertiveness, and image. Group therapy can be a wonderful thing to add on to individual therapy, or to pursue on its own. Members can see how others handle similar issues, get supportive feedback, and explore questions they’ve been wondering about “what people really think.” You might be surprised to hear, we laugh and have a lot of fun even while going to some deep places.  My groups are an affordable option to support mental health access for all.

About Me

hannah_final15.jpg

Welcome!

I’m a therapist practicing in North Austin, centrally located to the Wooten, Crestview, and Allandale neighborhoods.

I’m currently seeing clients for in-person or virtual sessions.

I specialize in working through an existential lens, which means I’m interested in how you create meaning, purpose, and a sense of identity amidst your mental health challenges. At the same time, I keep our work focused and practical on what needs to change. For a more complete list of who and what issues I work with please see below, or the “What I Do” page.

My style is supportive, collaborative, and direct. It’s important to me to have a sense of humor about life’s craziness, and that sometimes dark, sometimes dorky sense of humor comes through with my work too.

 Diversity and Inclusion

I am LGBTQIA friendly and affirming of clients all along the gender spectrum. I am proud to serve people of various identities, backgrounds, lifestyles, and abilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is working with you like?

I try to make therapy valuable and thought-provoking in every session. The nuts and bolts differ depending on personal needs and goals. For instance, one person might want help creating practical plans for better sleep, relationships, and use of coping skills. Another might want to explore what happens when their depression or anxiety gets rapidly triggered, sending them into a downward and spiral.

While therapy can involve facing hard truths, it is important to me to retain a sense of humor and an appreciation for what is unique and delightfully weird about every one of my clients.

How do I know that I need therapy?

You don’t need it the way you need water, air, and food, sure. But most people find that if they’re stuck in self-defeating patterns, having a trained outside perspective can help them problem-solve and appreciate how to do things differently.

Do you take my insurance?

At this time I am not taking any new insurance clients. I can however provide a superbill that will allow you to get reimbursed from your insurance company. You are responsible for communicating with your insurance benefits to find out what your plan offers for reimbursement to plan members using out-of-network providers.

What makes therapy worth the time and money?

Therapy is an investment in yourself and your wellbeing. While I wish I could serve everyone at every price point, my rate ensures that I am able to offer high-quality services. While there are many great sliding scale and insurance-based providers out there, many providers work long hours and are stretched too thin trying to pay their bills. I want to offer my best to the people that I do take on in my practice.
